I have the complexion for protection but not the orientation for this administration.

With the way things are going, it’s plausible to say I will lay with burning bodies just for being gay.

But I won’t be the first, immigrants will be displaced, and those that stand in the way will be laid to waste.

Then they will tackle those legally here, Native Americans living in fear. 

They will bring back slavery for those who are WOKE, their way of saying black and brown folk.

The transgender community. They will pick through the list: non-binary, genderqueer; tick tick tick.

Last come the allies, whose only crime, was that of empathy, which they demonized.

They won’t have to do much. They already are. Cutting off healthcare like some Nazi Czar. The poor will go hungry. The sick won’t get meds.

While the billionaires stand among rubble and dead.

You will turn a blind eye. You will cover your ears. That’s unrealistic. Those are his fears.

I am not afraid. I am sounding the alarm. For those that aren’t awake, they intend to do you harm.

Please wake up and join us. These are ALL of our rights. I will no longer turn a blind eye. I will no longer tread light. I am no longer “too good” to call out hypocrisy or join this fight.
